Velocity Composites strengthened its position as a global leader in advanced aerospace manufacturing after its Tallassee facility in Alabama became the latest of its manufacturing sites to attain Merit status on the Nadcap AC7118 (KSP) Composites scheme. The specialist manufacturer of advanced composite material kits confirmed that its Tallassee, Alabama site received zero findings during its third Nadcap audit, conducted in May 2026 — a significant achievement within the aerospace and defence supply chain.

As a result, the site has been awarded Nadcap Merit 18 status, extending the interval between audits from 12 months to 18 months in recognition of sustained operational excellence, process control and quality assurance performance. For aerospace manufacturers operating in tightly regulated environments, Nadcap accreditation is regarded as one of the most rigorous independent assessments of special process capability and manufacturing quality. Achieving zero findings demonstrates not only full compliance, but a mature quality culture embedded across every stage of production.

The milestone further reinforces Velocity Composites’ reputation as a critical supply chain partner for major aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers seeking precision-engineered composite material kits, advanced nesting solutions and digitally enabled material management systems. The Tallassee operation plays a strategic role in Velocity’s North American manufacturing footprint, delivering high-performance composite kitting solutions designed to reduce waste, optimise material utilisation and improve manufacturing efficiency for complex aerospace structures.

Velocity’s proprietary nesting technology and advanced material handling capabilities enable aerospace customers to maximise yield from high-value composite materials while reducing scrap rates, labour inputs and production variability. The company’s integrated digital manufacturing ecosystem also supports enhanced traceability, lean manufacturing and sustainability objectives across aerospace programmes.

Velocity Composites plc has increasingly differentiated itself through its focus on end-to-end composite material optimisation, combining precision kitting, automated nesting software, logistics integration and manufacturing process expertise to support next-generation aerospace production. Commenting on the achievement, Sheldon Atherton, Head of Technology & Quality Systems said:

“Achieving zero findings in a Nadcap audit is exceptionally rare and reflects the dedication, professionalism and technical excellence of the entire Tallassee team. Securing Merit 18 status demonstrates consistent operational maturity and a deeply embedded quality culture.”

“At Velocity, quality assurance is fundamental to how we support our aerospace customers. Our focus on advanced composite material kits, digital manufacturing systems and process optimisation means our customers can rely on the highest levels of repeatability, traceability and manufacturing performance across every programme we support.”

The result is expected to strengthen Velocity’s strategic positioning within the global aerospace composites sector, particularly as OEMs continue to prioritise supply chain resilience, manufacturing efficiency and sustainability performance. With increasing demand for lightweight composite structures across commercial aerospace, defence and advanced air mobility platforms, manufacturers are seeking suppliers capable of delivering both technical precision and operational reliability at scale. Velocity’s ability to combine advanced nesting technologies, data-driven manufacturing processes and high-quality composite material kit production continues to position the business as a key enabler of modern aerospace manufacturing efficiency.

The Tallassee achievement also reflects the company’s wider commitment to operational excellence across its global manufacturing network, supporting long-term customer partnerships in some of the world’s most demanding aerospace programmes.
